My parents never liked the fact that I moved down to a major city two hours away a few years back. Since moving back to the town where I grew up, they're still holding the grudge. On April 1st, I told them I was moving back down to the city because my current landlord called me and said she was selling house I am currently living in and that the choice to move to the city was an easy fix.
I should also add that yes, two months ago the landlord did say she was planning on selling the place within the next two or three years, so the set up for the prank did have some legit reasoning behind it. Needless to say, my mother wasn't happy. I hassled for a little while about it before giving in and saying the joke was on her.
Turns out the joke was on me.
I had this 'mysterious' number on my caller ID for about four days, receiving a call while at work and after getting off the phone with my mom, the mystery number called, A Realtor the landlord is dealing with. Turns out my landlord had put the house up for sale. It had been on the market for the last four days.
No joke. Now I have to move. So when calling my mom back to tell her about the news I received, she thought THAT was a joke too.
