Any outsider reading this is probably like "wtf" because this breaks up two of my most treasured OTPs at the same time.

A is for Angel:

There's just something about the young man (or older teen--it's hard to pin down his age) that piques Kairi's curiosity as much as it frightens her. He's killed in the past, she's been told. She's seen him throw knives with inhuman accuracy, striking down monsters she knows he can't even see, and yet he never seems to enjoy the violence. There's something in the darkness of his eyes, something far-off, melancholic and adult, something that gave up the luxury of hope a long time ago.

"I don't think you're a bad person," she says, and for the first time in the maybe three hours total that she has spent with him, something that might be a smile flirts with the corner of his mouth.

"I hope that doesn't mean you think I'm a good person," he says, his voice as soft as the tread of a hunting cat. The kind of deep voice that creates a buzzing echo beneath your ribs.

She shivers, but can't let it die there. This house is large, and lonely, and after a while, even the most insane of conversations becomes welcome. "Well...I like to think there's good in everyone," she says, drawing her knees up to her chest. "And you...well, you seem different from...how you are." Wow. That made sense.

"Do I?" His head turns in her direction from the sound of her voice, and he talks to a point a few inches to the right of her head.

"You don't seem...happy. With what you do." That's right, provoke the stranger who could kill you.

By way of answer, he shrugs, and says, "When one loves, one runs the risk of hate. Evil couldn't exist, after all, without a good to fight against. Even Lucifer was an angel once."

"So...you're saying that..." She closes her eyes and rubs them, thinking. "You're saying..." She opens them and he's standing right in front of her. His eyes are burning red, and she can't move for momentary terror.

"I'm saying," he says softly, running two fingers along her trembling jawline, "that the higher you fly, the farther you fall."

WHAT? D8 No, he's 21 at the age I'm playing him. When we first meet him in-series, he's 18. Yeah, he's only about 6 years older than Kairi.
