I have a plot bunny.

Actually, strike the bunny, I have a PLOT.

This never happens. I am usually lucky just to get a broad sort of sense of how I want something to work out. This fic, I know how it begins, I know how it ends, and most importantly, I know how it middles. All I need is a title and twenty-or-so thousand words.

I haven't written fanfiction in forever. This is going to be so great. Proof that I am in fact capable of completing a multi-chapter endeavor. /cringes at all her projects.

I'd say the one time it's appropriate for the government to censor media is when that information might be linked to enemies and used against us, i.e. military functions and other sensitive information that really we don't need to know about.

Also WOO fanfiction. I'm just bad at it, but. I love reading fanfiction.

Yeah, I agree that confidential information is different. But that's not a case of suppressing someone trying to distribute information in a certain form the the public, for art, truth, or whatever purposes.

And idk, there might also be extremely sensitive messages that the public could do without, though really I only mean the extreme cases like anything in support of the KKK or other racist organizations, or anything that expresses complete falsity. I... kind of wish they would censor/remove Glen Beck because oh my god I am frightened by how many radicals I have to deal with that one phrase they use to excuse their ill-founded accusations and arguments. "Glen Beck says".

IDK I just wish the media had either someone sensible or something keeping an eye on it to make sure it isn't just spreading meaningless panic or misleading and misinforming the public. News will always have a slant one way or another but really, really, can we really not go without people accusing Obama of being a Muslim or being a Nazi or WHATEVER.

Not saying that the government needs to step in but dear god someone does.

As much as I would LOVE to see something horrible happen to Glenn Beck, I feel that everyone, even idiots, should have the right to say what they think, even if what they think is wrong. I toootally get what you're trying to convey, but sadly, I don't think there's anywhere we can draw that line without shutting out someone's rights. Censorship is a slippery slope.

And lol, I re-learned this past week why I hate reading my local newspaper. I live in an area full of conservative old people, and.... well, I have read my fair share of letters to the editor that have made me want to tear my hair out in huge chunks and cry into my Cheerios until they get soggy.

Augh. It doesn't even have to be censorship. Just someone in charge to go "this is goddamn stupid, get out and quit comparing everyone to the nazi regime". Some HIGHER ORDER of not-necessarily-censorship that just keeps an eye on our role models.

Whyyyyy do we have these horrible role models. Paris Hilton, Glenn Beck, and all the crazy shades in between.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't think there should be censorship, just quality control which we are severely lacking.

And thus I make my point moot in this conversation considering the original start.
