Naruto 448 and 449

You know, it's weird.  For the past two chapters, in which absolutely ridiculous things have occurred, I went into them all jaded and expecting to be disgusted because of just reading the spoilers and knowing what was going to happen this week.

But...somehow, they worked out for me.  Like, I was unexpectedly able to suspend my disbelief long enough to enjoy them.  And I feel like I shouldn't, because most of my srs-face Naruto fan buddies are foaming with rage/declaring loudly that they don't care anymore, and I feel like I ought to feel that way, too.  But I don't.  I'm okay with the cheese.

Oh, and one more thing:

I'd be okay with it if it were any other characters. I seriously love Konan, and was SO DEPRESSED OMG that she was basically a hood ornament of child anxt for the whole arc and then promptly rode into the sunset. LAME AND ANTICLIMATIC MUCH.

But, y'know, I'm not so mad at the massive deus ex machina part. SHIZUNE IS BACK BABY, WHICH IS AWESOME BECAUSE HER DEATH WAS LAMESAUCE.

I...feel bad saying so, because they have such a following, but I have absolutely no attachment whatsoever to Pain and Konan. Not dislike/hate, nor like/lurve, just stark indifference. If they're cool, that's great. If they fail, oh well, better them than someone I'm really invested in (THIS IS JUST HOW I PERSONALLY FEEL).

I liked it. It wasn't amazing, it all tied up too nicely, but my stand on Naruto has always that I pretty much take what I want from the series. It's so huge and updated so often that it's bound to have holes and fail all over the place, but on the other hand it has some really great stuff in it. This wasn't great, but it was positive, and we all know about my Happy Ending Fetish XD
