I am just so infuriated.

Via a complex web of TV Trope tags, I ended up reading the page for Legacy of the Force, just to see what tropes were prevalent in the Star Wars EU series that I didn't read and refuse to acknowledge as canonical, and that led me to this entry.

Wordless rage.

I can't believe, via this person's review, how much shit they let Troy Denning get away with. I mean, he gets away with absolute murder to begin with, but apparently, they let him kill Star Wars forever.

I'm going to go cry now.

Oh, LotF. The series that totally destroyed Jaina, Jacen and Mara. I read Invincible, and there were perhaps two things I really enjoyed out of the book in a gut-wrenching sort of way (the fact that they started each chapter with one of Jacen's corny jokes from back in the YJK days, and the page and a half of Jaina remembering Jacen comforting her after Anni's death.)

You know what's the worst thing about Invincible? IT'S ONE OF THE BETTER ONES. Do not read Bloodlines if you're a Jaina fan, trust me. >< I hated what they did to her as soon as she apprenticed herself to Boba Fett (A HUGE WTF in itself). They replaced Jaina with borg-Jaina and that depressed me so much. Her relationship to Boba in particular irked me (maybe it's just me, but there's no way in hell Jaina would look up to someone that repetitively threatens to kill her, her father, her brother, everyone. The idolizing of Boba is what really made me hate LotF. You can have a really awesome anti-hero, but you can't have an awesome anti-hero be loved by everyone...that kind of defeats the point, yknow?

UGH I COULD RANT ON LOTF ALL DAY. HERE IS MY ANGRIEST OF BULLET POINTS:

-Jaina is watered down to the point that all of her AWESOME characterization in NJO is gooooone
-Mara Jade becomes this impulsive, uber mama bear figure that dies by a dart.
-The Solo twin's relationship is mostly ignored.
-IF I JUST WRITE JACEN SOLO IN BIG ANGRY CAPS WOULD YOU GET THE JIST?! BECAUSE DAMN.

IT WAS THE ENTIRE LOTF SERIES THAT MADE ME HATE HER. LIKE, SHE IS REALLY AWFUL IN THAT ENTIRE BLOCK OF BOOKS. And she's still a great character! You can be a great character and be unlikeable ISN'T THAT RIGHT BOBA FETT?!?!
