It occurs to me that I get ridiculously pretentious when it comes to really silly things, like icon keywords. Who cares if I very cleverly quoted a poem by Alexander Pope to refer to a block of 100x100 pixels? (Code Geass as a fandom in particular brings this out quite terribly in me.) And yet I get so much internal pleasure out of the whole thing. It's masturbatory, is what it all really is. Ugh.

I should be asleep.

Because, obviously, there is nothing better we English majors can do with our time than giving stupidly pretentious keywords to 100x100 squares of pixels.

Lol, I bet Pope is rolling in his super-elitist grave to know his poetry is gracing an icon on Livejournal. Score one for posthumous irony!

Dude, I totally do the same thing, and I totally spend hours deciding on the keywords/comments. IT IS KIND OF SAD. BUT MAYBE ALSO AWESOME.

Dude, your icon keywords are an INSPIRATION TO ME. (I go to your icon page all the time, is that creepy?)

If it makes you happy, then who cares if other people don't get the reference. You have a blog that is your domain and it exists to bring you things that make you happy :)

Personally, I think it kinda rocks that you have such cool icon tags.

I think it's part of being a blogger to get pretentious over ridiculous things. :/ It is the fate of our lot. :P

It's a beautiful thing. I found great pleasure quoting King Lear and Richard III in my icons for Kenpachi. .______.b

xDD I once named a whole icon set out of lines from "Read, sweet, how others strove," which is sixteen lines long and therefore almost perfect.

Also, Ed's journal? Is full of Shakespeare, I'm not even kidding xD;

Ffft. Once I named an entire icon set after the poem Invictus, which is also 16 lines. It was groovy.

Shakespeare is particularly fun for naming things because it still looks pretentious and classy but there is a higher likelihood of non-English majors recognizing it. XDDDDD

That's awesome.

This is true. xDD But really. Fft, but it's so ridiculously fun to thumb through plays and find appropriate lines.
