I got four hours of sleep last night! 8D Sleeping with four slices of Pizza Hut on my stomach = not the best idea that has ever jumped into my head :/a But I don't regret it, as making a late night pizza date with my bffl was the only thing that kept me sane through a Saturday overtime shift. That and the thought of double-time pay. Sob.

Said bffl also gave me her old Sapphire cartridge! I CAN NOW PLAY A GEN III GAME FOR THE FIRST TIME AND EXPERIENCE THE PLOT OF THE GAMES THAT INSPIRED MY FAVORITE POKESPE ARC. Also, Ruby and Sapphire are OTP even in chibisprite form eeeeeeeeee~ :3 Also my Zigzagoon is named Crackoon and that alone proves I am a derp. (Plus it has the ability Pickup which for all intents and purposes literally makes him my crack mule.)

ALSO ALSO I FINALLY GOT MY REPLACEMENT POKEWALKER IN THE MAIL YAAAAAAAAAY.

I love the Hoenn Pokemon, I think they have this adorable quirkiness. I kind of like Sinnoh's music better, though (but Johto's music will always be my favorite).

I AM EXCITED FOR YOU. Do update as you go through the game and stuff! I am a huge nerd for the Hoenn games especially, even if fandom hates them for reasons I have never understood.

I still play my Emerald occasionally, although there's not much left to do as I've completed the Hoenn Pokedex and beat the game and all. But it is a permanent fixture in the bottom of my DS regardless, and I still have a huge soft spot for Hoenn and just... the whole plot, haha. I recently replayed Sapphire (used only a Gardevoir for all my battles), picked the male protagonist for a change, and was intrigued by how the dialogue and attitude of your rival changes based on your/their gender.

I should do a post soon where I give my status in all three of my currently running games (SS, Platinum, and now Sapphire).

It changes? Whoa! I'm also playing as the male because I felt it would be too freaky for me to have the female (Sapphire) character be Norman's kid. Except then you couldn't name your rival, so I was playing as RUBY and it's like YOUR BUDDY MAY and I'm like MAY IS LIKE THIS CREEPY NOT-SAPPHIRE WHO IS ALL SPARKLES AND GIGGLES, WHY IS SHE NOT BEATING PEOPLE UP AND SWINGING ON VINES. But anyway - I didn't realize the dialogue/characterization is unique to each respective character. I mean, logically it ought to change if they're going to be two different characters, but in HG/SS, your not-rival (i.e. Lyra or Ethan depending on which one you picked to play as) has the same dialogue and attitude regardless of which one s/he is.

Yeah! It's weird, because Lyra and Ethan have the same dialogue (it's kind of obvious that they wrote it for Lyra because Ethan is just so GIRLY, but that's not the point) and so do Lucas and Dawn IIRC.

Like, one bit I can remember is that when you first meet Brendan, he says something along the lines of "Eh? So you're my new neighbor? I didn't think you'd be a girl. When they said "gym leader's kid", I was expecting a boy." and later he says stuff like "For a girl, you're not that bad as a Pokemon trainer" (why so sexist, Brendan?). Then around your fourth or fifth gym badge he gets a lot friendlier and is biking up and "HEY! HAVE THIS RANDOM ITEM!! :)" and going away.

Oh I just looked him up on Bulbapedia to see if they had any quotes (they don't) and I'd forgotten how generally bizarre the Emerald character designs are. Brendan wears TWO PAIRS OF PANTS, one on top of the other! Wallace grew a ~fabulous~ cape! And speaking of fabulous, what is up with this guy? LOL.

I like how Ethan has a cute, bubbly, heart-warming personality. I hear a lot of people in d_m and places be like BAWW HE IS GIRLY AND LAME and I'm like B-BUT HE IS A CUTIE PIE AND I WUB HIM :C

LOL OMG I JUST SAW! But Ruby's outfit is the same, so I have to assume it is fashionable and "in" in the Pokeverse? AND DO NOT KNOCK WALLACE'S CAPE, IT IS THE BADASS CAPE OF BADASS. One of my favorite scenes in the manga, right there. (But then again, I have a disturbingly intense cape fetish, apparently, so everything I say is suspect.) As for Tucker, I don't even want to know. 8|
