Interests meme!
Aug. 4th, 2008 11:11 amComment on this post and I will choose seven interests from your profile. You will then explain what they mean/why you are interested in them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so that others can play along.
feilyn asked me about:
Cheese -- I love cheese. I love it. I love to eat it, to smell it (usually), just...yeah. I'm a dairy addict. Also, in a more literary sense, sometimes I like things that are ridiculous and over-the-top that make me laugh: cheesy things, in other words. Yeah. Cheese is great.
Gai vs Chuck Norris -- COME ON, WOULDN'T THIS BE EPIC??? Sometimes, I like to go into people's profiles and steal cool-sounding interests from them. This one came from the
capslock_narutocommunity profile. It just looked cool, so I snagged it.
Jak games -- You know, the Jak & Daxter video games for the PS2? They're awesome. I love them. That is all.
Millenium Snow -- This 2-volume manga series by the creator of Ouran High School Host Club is very cute. I stuck all of the manga I own in my interests, so this one got put in there, too, on the off-chance that any of my friends liked it. Haven't heard about it until now, though.
Odd Thomas -- This is a book series by Dean Koontz. IT IS AWESOME. Odd Thomas is a guy that can see ghosts. AND HE IS AWESOME. Go read them, srsly.
Sparkly things -- I am like a cat. I like watching things sparkle. They just make me happy.
The springtime of youth -- THE POWER OF YOUTH EXPLODE!!!!! Another interest ganked from
capslock_naruto. But it's okay, because I actually say this all the time now. Rock Lee has become my role model.
So yeah, drop a line and I'll pick some interests! Go for it! Believe it!

Date: 2008-08-05 12:32 am (UTC)I enjoy that:
Mmorpurgurs: Taken from the Zero Punctuation review of "The Witcher", seen here. I spelled it wrong, but who cares? Anyway, I'm a sucker for a good MMORPG even though I generally lose interest in them by level 20.
Nobles with ridiculous names: Well, I noticed a trend in characters I liked, that they were noblemen with long and ridiculous names. Rasler Heios Nabradia. Gailardia Galan Gardios. and so on and so forth. They're hot, so I roll with it.
Possession stories: A guilty pleasure of mine, I'll admit. In my Dragonball Z days I had an inordinate amount of love for the whole concept of Majin Whatsisface, to the point of ripping it off, and my next real fandom after that was Yu-Gi-Oh, and I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this. As it turns out, approximately a shitload of my original story concepts involve possession in some form or other. It's ... kind of ridiculous, really, but I like writing it, so there.
Pseudocanon: All these little things like Ivan's favorite food being pickles or Kariya being allergic to chocolate or what have you that aren't expressly stated or (in many cases) even vaguely hinted at in canon. But I take my little fanons and roll with them. Actually, sometimes I use my personal pseudocanon to replace parts of the story I didn't like, in my head. Took me years to accept Golden Sun canon as canon.
Video game science: Much in the same vein as pseudocanon, I like to take video games (or other fictional worlds, whatever) and pick apart their magic and/or science systems so that I know exactly how they work. I have a pretty good grasp on Rogue Galaxy and FF12's and I think I actually understand Golden Sun's magic system better than the game developers, but Kingdom Hearts still eludes me to an extent, which as you might imagine bothers me to no end when I'm trying to write about it.
When They Cry: The English (and much less Peter-Pipery) title of "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni", a.k.a. That Psychological Horror Anime With The Killer Lolis And Really Long Name. It's best known for the killer lolis, but it has a fantastically deep story and I love it to death. I hear it's finally getting properly released on DVD, too, which makes me so happy. ♥
