Favorite(s) of the batch: Insomniac, Loathing, Stained, mistaken identity, cognitive dissonance, The Other Side, and A Story Told by Silence. These were all, for one reason or another, easy/fun/cathartic to write, and, for the most part, they represent high points of my writing this year.

Best of the batch: Insomniac, because it is epic long and it actually uses themes/motifs well (though that's probably because it is super derivative and based on the best American book ever written). Loathing, because it's actually funny.

Most underappreciated by the universe: The Other Side. Dude, I wrote this for a class. I advertised it all over my lj at the time. No one read it. I mean, yeah it was long, but it was based on Stephen King, and I put so much work into it and whine whine whine sob. (Looking back, it's not the greatest thing I ever wrote, but it's a long cry from the worst.)

Most fun to write: mistaken identity. Karin/Axel? Winningest crossovership ever.

Sexiest fic: cognitive dissonance. I made the excuse of it being a character study of Karin, but it was really honestly just me being really, really turned on by evilbastard!Sasuke from chapter 416.

"Holy crap, that's wrong even for you" fic: cognitive dissonance. For about five seconds, there was almost going to be a "dubious consent" scene. Then I came to my senses.

Fic that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Insomniac. Writing this really helped me come to an understanding of how to write Itachi's character effectively so that he is sympathetic, but in character and not a woobie. Itachi is unhinged, morally ambiguous, borderline suicidal, self-loathing, bitter, and ruthless. He is not a fracking woobie.

Hardest fic to write: night terror. This started out as, like, five different fics. Long labor, crazy baby.

Biggest disappointment: with a smile. One of my last efforts in the Bleach fandom, it represented the end of me experimenting with that awful half-poetry, half stream-of-consciousness shit.

Biggest surprise: A Story Told by Silence. Me: "I will never write Naruto fanfiction. I will never write Naruto fanfiction. I will never--" *reads Valley of the End fight, blacks out, wakes up to this scribbled all over notebook* "Uhh.....hi."

Most telling fic: ...Telling like....how? Kill All Your Friends reveals my dedication to crackships, Insomniac and space monkeys tell how much I love Fight Club, cognitive dissonance makes my Sasuke-fangirlism obvious (possibly?).

Year-end squee: ITACHI/ANKO FOREVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR~

Predictions: I have to finish my christmas requests, get my ass in gear with Stained, and prepare for the bigass Itachi AU I have planned for June 2009. I might start writing Avatar when I finish Season 3, too. Bleach seems to be on its last legs with my fanfiction mind, and Kingdom Hearts has muse-died. Unless I get Re:CoM and suddenly have a brainplosion of inspiration, don't expect more out of that fandom from me.
