Lupus is an autoimmune disorder that can hide in a person's system for years and years until it is too late. It can manifest itself in so many ways, attack so many different body systems, that the list of possible symptoms of lupus is way super long. A lot of times, people with lupus get misdiagnosed because their symptoms match some other disease/disorder.
The reason I mentioned it is because on House, which deals with mostly diagnosing really rare diseases, inevitably at the beginning of any given episode, one of House's assistants will suggest lupus as a probable cause, and House will always tell them it isn't. (because that would be too easy; they're always wrong at first in order to build narrative tension, lol) This has developed into a sort of Internet joke/meme, which is why I said it in regards to House trying to diagnose Itachi. XD
