So, I did something I've been meaning to do for a very long time: I finally read the game script to The World Ends With You.  (I did the same thing with Chain of Memories--I don't own a DS, and I fricking wanted to play both games solely for the plot)

*s-sob*  What a beautiful game.  What an uplifting story.  And the sheer number of mind-fracking plot twists was just glorious.  Now I wish I'd played it for real, just to get those revelations in real-time.

Things I Liked:

~Joshua's thinly-veiled Jesus imagery, especially since his name essentially boils down to meaning "Jesus," itself--and yet, the fact that he's also a total Magnificent Bastard the whole time.  Fun mind screw.
~Watching the protagonist work for the antagonist the whole time and not figure it out.  XD
~"Trust your partner."  ;A;  s-sob aaawwwwwwww
~OH MY GOD BEAT OH MY GOD SOB
~SHIKI AND ERI ALSO SOB
~NOOOOOO UZUKI AND KARIYA NOOOOOOOOOOOO SOB SOB SOB
~Very well-placed Title Drops
~NEKUUUUUUUUUU~~~~

Also: "The proof is in the pudding.  The pudding...of their DOOM."  fffffffffffff

Konishi: "But sir!  What if he dredges up old memories of people teasing you because of your girly name?!"
Kitaniji: "Konishi... Salt.  Wounds.  Stop."

Neku: "Ow!  What the hell???  NOW MY HAND IS TICKING!"  He's a lot more of a wanna-be-cool dork in the manga, d'aawww.  I can't decide which interpretation I like better.

Beat: "Me an' Rhyme was pretty tough, but four of us?  That's like the ice in the cake!"
Rhyme: "I think you mean icing on the cake,' Beat."
Beat: "I do?  Whoa!  I DO!!!"  omg omg omg these two THESE TWO (and chalk up another "big brother" character on the complex sheet.  T_T)

Kariya: "Since we showed up in silhouette last time, you probably thought we were up to something dastardly." ilu, Kariya~  AND THEN: "By the way, this thing I've been sucking on?  It's bean paste, not a lollipop. ...Just so you know."  ffffffffffff omg the best thing ever.

Oh my god, and Joshua stalking Neku all Day 1, and then taking a picture of his butt?  BEST.  THING.  EVER.  I MAY HAVE TO JOIN THIS FANDOM.

Neku: "What was that?"
Omniscient Box Text Narrator: "That was Mr. Hanekoma, missing his chance to be in the comic."

SO YEAH.
