If he just wanted Sasuke to turn to the dark side, he shouldn't have been falsely getting our hopes up for a redemption by maintaining his moral ambiguity, but making him subtly unsympathetic the whole time. So now, he's executed a badly done character development. BUT if he does go for the redemption in the end, everyone will be doubly pissed off because Sasuke doesn't deserve it anymore for being a dick.
So either everyone's mad, or everyone's really mad. WAY TO GO.
