It is really concerning to me. I mean, I don't feel like people who hold conservative points of view are necessarily wrong, but. just. the things these politicians have been doing are terrifying.
I think the things both sides have been doing are pretty terrifying, frankly, but I am old and cynical and do not believe it when politicians tell me they're going to fix things and know exactly how.

Thank you for posting a link that will leave me entertained for days to come, especially given that my parents have been in continual sigh mode over the fact that "the kids are going to have to pay for it."
Beautiful--except you know the people who actually need to read this will take one look and go 'tl;dr' because it's not full of flashing sirens and pithy sound bites. And it, y'know, makes sense too, there's that.
It makes sense. I mean, the article has its weaknesses, I'm not going to deny, but it should at least raise some questions. If anything, it raises more questions to me about the state of our elected officials themselves than on the viewpoints they espouse anymore, especially with the flip-flopping examples.
The only thing that bothers me about the article, and I'm saying this as a liberal, left-wing, Obama-voting democrat, is that it's very one-sided and almost condescending to Conservatives as a whole. Granted, I'm assuming the author of this was liberal, and was only trying to get his views across and not the collective whole's, but it's important to remember that the Democrats have screwed up just as much as the Republicans.
You are most certainly welcome! I'm a pretty strong supporter of the belief that what's going to ruin this country is the fact that very few officials can set aside partisan politics to see the bigger picture.
See, what worries me most is that people seem to be getting really, really caught up in the idea that one side is always right and the other is an evil dragon that we must slay and, just. No. Imo really supporting a party involves questioning everything, because that's the only way to improve and to keep it on the right track.
It is. I didn't like that at the end of the whole thing, he refused to cite liberal examples, saying we weren't as wingnutty. Um, yes, liberals have examples that are just as bad. PETA, for one.
Yeah, it seems to imply that liberals CAN'T be racist, sexist, incompetant, afraid, etc etc which makes me want to hit my head against the table seeing as registering as a democrat does not make you a magical political unicorn of peace and nurture.
ROFL oh PETA. God. They have RUINED things for us vegetarians. RUINED.

I don't have time to read it all, but I'd like to comment that most of this guy's sources are just other people's opinion blogs. (Or the New York Times (basically the same thing))
You have a point. (although I might not agree about the New York Times) There's also the fact that he refused to cite liberal examples for a non-reason, which raised some warning flags to me.
On the other hand, I'm more worried about some of the examples of flip-flopping politicians than anything. On any side, flip-flopping bugs me. If you're going to have a viewpoint stick with it. I'd rather have a conservative congressperson who sticks to hir platform than a conservative congressperson who changes what s/he votes for at the drop of a hat just to stay in office.
