IN OTHER NEWS: Lately I've been feeling like I want to delete all my icons and reupload them from scratch, in the process creating a new naming system for the whole bunch of them. My only problem with this is, then all my old posts and comments would just show the default, and I would be like AN ENTIRE YEAR'S WORTH OF ICON DERPERY, DOWN THE TUBES D: but at the same time, I'm tired of some and want to rename others and I kind of have this urge to just purge and start all over again. SIGH.
Oh, and one of tomorrow's midterms got pushed back to Monday, yeeeaaaaah BD

THE FACT THAT SASUKE IS NOT AN EMOTIONALLY HEALTHY INDIVIDUAL although compared to his canon counterpart, he's fricking skipping through flowers holding hands with Happiness. Also, his general "aaaah" about BONDS in general. And his brother issues. And Hime's got to learn not to be so incredibly nice. They will rub off on each other, methinks o9

Pretty much everything, ever. It starts with HAIKU FIGHTS and ends with KINKY 'HIME-IMAGINE-SPOT SEX.
4. What makes me sad about them
Probably the fact that this is a derpy RP ship and couldn't possibly happen in either canon, considered both of their characterization is currently being stomped on by Clydesdale horses. Clydesdale hooves are HUGE OMFG.
5. What moment I wish had

When "Kill All Your Friends" by My Chemical Romance came on one night, I wrote a summary and wanted it to be a pairing with Itachi. But I couldn't think of any female characters I could really see being with him, until, for shits and giggles, I wrote "Anko." And then halfway through writing the one-shot, I started thinking, holy shit this actually makes sense. Cue my greatest crackship creation of all time. Of all time.

The fact that they've never met in canon |D also all their issues
3. What makes me happy about them
Super ridiculous hotness. Also, they are both total WOOBS except Anko is much more functional.

I just said they're both total woobs, didn't I? Itachi is so depressing, and Anko is, too, or at least my headcanon for her is. IT ALSO MAKES ME SAD THAT SHE'S NEVER IN CANON ANYMORE WTF.

I wanted to experiment with newly-evil!Sasuke (it had been new at the time shut up), and even though I mostly shipped Karin/Juugo then, I wrote a one-shot exploring Hawk's messy dynamics (mostly a Karin character study), and in it, she and Sasuke were having a kind of weird relationship. And the more I wrote it, the more I was like THESE TWO ARE ACTUALLY KIND OF SHIPPY TOGETHER AND ALSO VERY HOT 8D

THEIR DYNAMICS ARE JUST <3333 So I gradually started shipping every possible pairing in the entire diagram of four, and then I was like WHAT THE HELL, I JUST SHIP THEM ALL AT ONCE, but then Sasuke was a douche, so he got kicked out.

They, like, they all have these issues, and Sasuke used to be their rock, their hope, their focal point, but now, he's just completely lost himself (and I genuinely think this is supposed to be the result of a psychotic breakdown, like, they shouldn't be killing him, they should be fucking committing this fucked-up kid and getting him some goddamn help with his life BUT NINJALAND HAS NO THERAPISTS), and they're just. They have to find some sort of new equilibrium. They - Karin, Juugo, Suigetsu - all they know is how to live for someone else, and not for themselves. I don't mean themselves like "everyone for their own interests," I mean just knowing how to choose your own destiny, and like. augh, I'm going to get myself all emotional again TT______TT

A great deal. Sasuke leaving Juugo and Suigetsu behind. Sasuke stabbing Karin. I think not having them around him right after the fight with Itachi - that was a mistake on Sasuke's part (but one he was ultimately doomed to make). Madara = not a good influence in the crucial first day after this giant event that screwed up his life even more.
....agh I just realized that FOR A SHIP THAT DOESN'T TECHNICALLY HAVE SASUKE IN IT, THIS COMMENT IS REALLY ABOUT SASUKE.

They all survive, Sasuke gets serious psychological help, Karin joins Konoha and becomes THE SEXY LADY WHO WORKS WITH THE INTERROGATION SQUAD 8D and Juugo and Suigetsu spend a long time in Konoha and then ride off into the buddy-sunset together. And then they come back. And Juugo lives in the Nara's forest and keeps an eye on Hidan's general area, while Suigetsu takes up residence in the water tower and trolls Konoha's residents forever. The end.

Date: 2010-03-07 06:53 pm (UTC)Then, I recommend the X-Wing series, by Michael A. Stackpole and Aaron Allston (Allston's are the best, and you don't really need to read the Stackpoles to get them. I never did |D)
Truce at Bakura's also a good primer for the EU, since it's set directly after Return of the Jedi, and kind of helps ease you into seeing how we got from there to the Thrawn Trilogy, as well as the fallout from the Empire's defeat. The Courtship of Princess Leia is a must for a Han/Leia shipper, and also I recommend Shadows of the Empire (set between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi) for more Leia being awesome.
That should get you started! :D ALSO, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ONCE YOU GET THROUGH THOSE: Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor, by Matthew Motherfucking Stover. He's only the best writer in the EU. Don't read it until you've got at least some EU under your belt, though, since it's got a lot of in-jokes and references to the rest of the canon (it's essentially a tribute to the whole canon, is what it really is).
