I was trawling TV Tropes today and I ended up getting directed by the Kingdom Hearts Nightmare Fuel page to this:

Hnnnnngh. Oh my god. Every time I poke my head back into Kingdom Hearts fandom to see if enough shrill preteen girls have left so it's safe for me to come back (it never is, as an aside), I get re-re-re-re-reminded of the sheer amount of how much I love Riku. Seriously. It's like, every time I turn around, he becomes even more amazing. Look at that duck-turn-elbow move. Just look at it. I came.

Also, David Gallagher's voice acting. I am serious. He needs to become a full-time voice actor instead of...whatever he does. Appearing at Seventh Heaven reunions? PLEASE. No. He needs to do this as his new career. He is goddamn talented.

On that note AND to bring us back to the first topic, because of a comment on that same Nightmare Fuel page, I went back and rewatched some old KH cutscenes, and it's one of those things that just gets creepier the longer you think about it, but you know when Riku's possessed by Ansem in the first game? And they layer David Gallagher and Billy Zane's voices together (on that note: HNNNNNNGH. goddammit Billy Zane why did you have to go appear in some dick Anti-Semitic movie and cause Disney to cut ties with you, come on, you were the only Ansem for me) - when they do that, you don't realize at first, but the only voice doing any actual emoting and inflection is Ansem's. Riku's is in monotone.

....just let that seep in for a moment. YEAH. I was like, ".....oh god that is fridge horror."


I forget the original point of this post. Riku distracted me with his sexy.

Dear David Gallagher,

You are a blinding, brilliant light from heaven.  I don't know where you get your talent from, but know that you are a deity of voice-acting among mortals.  Please consider doing more in this field.

EDIT: ALSO, I'M MADE VERY HAPPY BY THE FACT THAT MOST OF RIKU'S CUTSCENES INVOLVE STRATEGIC CAMERA ANGLES OF HIS SEXY BACKSIDE.

EDIT 2:  THEY TOOK AWAY CHRISTOPHER LEE.  IN MY FAVORITE NON-RIKU CHARACTER.  THEY TOOK AWAY CHRISTOPHER FRACKING LEE.  THOSE BASTARDS.  FIRST REPLACING BILLY ZANE WITH RICHARD EPCAR AND NOW THIS?????????????  D:<<<  DISPLEASURE, I HAVE MUCH OF IT!

LAST EDIT: There needs to be some sort of Academy Award for voice-acting in a video game, and David Gallagher needs to win it.  Not for Riku--for the Replica.  My.  God.  I cried, like, twice.  His voice breaks in all the right places, and he stresses all the right words, and gives it just the right mix of snark and anger and sadness and confusion and rage against the world for what he is and isn't and..... just wow.
