so bright so vivid what does this mean
Jan. 19th, 2011 12:27 amOkay, so at least Star Driver has some dignity as an anime. Yeah, sure, it's a Magical Girl anime disguised as a mecha anime where the mechas are run by the users' sex drives and the main character saves his rival from predatory lolis with the power of his intense gayness, but you can actually read shit into it and stuff. There is at least the pretense of some sort of faint dignity buried underneath the sparkles and rainbows.
Which, of course, apparently Cannot Happen to me.
Which appears to be why I have suddenly become a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh GX.
Not the original series, mind (not that I'm not a casual fan anyway). That would be too dignified. I mean GX.
( explained by several Plurk excerpts which are unfortunately difficult to read )
And then I just said "hell with it" and began planning out how long it would take me to watch the entire series.
sob.

I recently found this blog which is a speculation/spoilers/analysis blog on Star Driver. I feel like I need to go back and rewatch some of this because HOLY SHIT there are characters whose names I have yet to memorize; more importantly, OH MY GOD PHOENICIAN LETTERS AND SEMITIC LANGUAGES USED AS THE SYMBOLIC MOTIF IN THE NAMING OF THE MECHAS AND THE PEOPLE WHO PILOT THEM OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD.

I WILL NEVER BE THE SAME
Oct. 12th, 2010 01:23 amSo there is this new anime that just began airing in Japan on October 3rd.
It's called Star Driver.
I just watched the first episode.
Where has this been my entire life???
To summarize, it's like if Gurren Lagann and Sailor Moon got married and had a baby that would grow up to be Liberace, if Liberace exploded people's faces with mechas by performing ballet while wearing one of the most dramatic capes in the history of dramatic capes.
My real-time reactions can be read here.
I have a NEW ANIME, people. Let's hope this one doesn't break my heart like the last one. (sob, Code Geass, why do I continue to watch you even though I know it only ever ends in teeeears)
OH THAT REMINDS ME:
Mamoru Miyano is the fabulous main character, and Jun Fukuyama is his Blue Oni counterpart.
*~~~~~~~~*
I may. I may cry. With joy.

I wasn't on last night because I had the WORST DAY EVER, so I went to bed as soon as I got home. Long story short, work sucked ass, and then just when I thought I was free, it turned out that I had LOCKED THE KEYS IN THE CAR, so I had to wait an hour for my mom to drive up to bring the spare keys, and I was almost an emotional wreck but luckily I was too tired to cry, and yeah. Major suck.
To make me feel better, let's read Naruto 498:
( What am I going to do for stress relief when this manga is over? )

Future Titles
Three new Kingdom Hearts games are in development: Kingdom Hearts III along with two other untitled games.[23] The first of the untitled Kingdom Hearts games is expected to be released in 2010, which Tetsuya Nomura mentioned earlier in an interview on Twitter.[24] The game is also expected to focus on Sora as well as another character who has been cited by series director, Tetsuya Nomura, in an interview with Famitsu in February 2010, as being "the center of the series"[25] who was later revealed to be Xehanort.[23] Nomura has previously stated that one of the future games would be connected to 358/2 Days, Coded and Birth by Sleep, and would be more of a main game than a spin-off or sidestory. The game was teased in a secret movie, titled Reconnect. Kingdom Hearts, shown as the secret ending to Birth by Sleep.[26][27]
The second of the untitled Kingdom Hearts games will be released in 2011 and will focus on multiple main characters.[23] In addition, Kingdom Hearts III is currently in the conceptual stages which would mean that it would be the last to be released out of the three upcoming games, Kingdom Hearts III will also not end the series; only what Nomura calls the "Xehanort Saga" involving Sora's encounters with Xehanort. He also adds that the series will not continue on with a new protagonist instead "Sora will be the hero till the end".[23] This release schedule fits with a recent statement Nomura made in which he said he wanted to release at least one Kingdom Hearts title a year.[25] The upcoming games were revealed during an interview with Nomura in March 2010 which was part of the Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Ultimania, a companion guidebook for Birth by Sleep by Square Enix.[23]
